We are currently offering two types of wheel throwing and hand building classes at our studio. We have two classrooms, so that we can keep the class sizes small (generally 3-4 people in each class, max 5 for intermediate classes). Scheduling is flexible Monday-Saturday, unless there is already a session scheduled during that time. The 4 week class has an additional make up days available if needed. This way if you need to reschedule or have a scheduling conflict you do not need to miss a class. Please email us at info@rnkceramics.com about setting up your class.
COVID PRECAUTION REQUIREMENTS: All students must be vaccinated and provide proof of vaccination prior to first class. Because of the up close nature of pottery instruction, masks must also be worn at all times during instruction.
Try It Out Class - Pottery Wheel
This is a great chance for beginners to try out clay and see how they like it. No prior experience required! You will learn a couple of the basic techniques of wheel throwing like centering and pulling up clay with the goal of making your first piece. This is also great for a date night or for you and a friend. This class will have up to 4 people max. The session will last 2 hours.
All materials are provided including clay and tools.
Pricing: $120 per person for a 2 hour session.
For an additional $15 you can keep your piece and we will trim and glaze it for you. Pieces will be ready approximately 4-5 weeks after the class for pick up.
4 Week Lesson Package - Pottery Wheel
For anyone interested in learning the basics of wheel throwing or have some throwing under their belt and want to continue learning, we offer a four week session package. You will learn the basic techniques of wheel throwing along with how to trim and glaze your pieces. We throw and teach traditional Korean throwing techniques. New students will learn the basics of wedging, centering, pulling, and shaping on the wheel. Over the course of several sessions students will learn basic bowl, cylinder, cup, and vase shapes. They will then learn trimming techniques on their pieces and different methods of glazing including painting, dipping, and spraying. Students with experience can continue to expand on their prior experience with additional tips and tweaks to improve their throwing and glazing techniques.
All materials are provided including clay, tools, and studio glazes. Firing of any pieces is also included.
Pricing: $320 ($80 per session) per person. Each lesson runs for 2 hours.

All materials will be provided for this class, however you should wear clothing that you can get messy in. Paper will be provided for sketching basic designs, but feel free to bring a sketchbook with ideas you have been thinking about.

Additionally, students will learn all about glazing including under-glaze painting, dipping and spraying. All materials will be provided for this class, however you should wear clothing that you can get messy in. Paper will be provided for sketching basic designs, but feel free to bring a sketchbook with ideas you have been thinking about.

Cancellation Policy: For any cancellation with less than 24 hours notice will be subjected to an $80 cancellation fee. We allow make up days during each 4 week session. If you make up any days that you miss you will not be subjected to any cancellation fee.
